‘Poklukar’s days” | 3rd Scientific Symposium on bees and beekeeping

Slovenian Academic Beekeeping Society (SAČD) and Agricultural institute of Slovenia, in collaboration with Veterinary faculty University of Zagreb, Croatia, organize the 3rd Scientific Symposium on bees and beekeeping, subtitled ‘‘Poklukar’s days” in memorial of Janez Poklukar, former president of SAČD.

Thanks to the Agricultural institute of Slovenia – part of the project consortium, BPRACTICES team will take part to the event in order to contribute to the debate on major issues in the field of beekeeping.

BPRACTICES reserachers will talk about:

  • Varromed® performances in Southern Europe for Varroa destructor control in honeybee (Apis mellifera) colonies during winter
  • Powder sugar as new matrix for diagnosis of honeybee (Apis mellifera) viruses in the context of the Good Beekeeping Practice of the varroa infestation level assessment
  • Good Beekeeping Practices: first attempt of definition, classification and evaluation at the international level.

The symposium will be held on Thursday 4th October at the Agricultural institute of Slovenia, Ljubljana, Slovenia. Various recent expert and scientific activities in the field of beekeeping in Slovenia and abroad will be presented. On Friday 5th October there will be an excursion to Veterinary Faculty, University of Zagreb, Croatia.
